End of the Season

Derrick and I officially have one high school season under our belt. If we had to give a two word feeling about the season it would probably be "worth it". Coaching is hard! We are so worried about making sure our guys are enjoying it, learning the game, learning leadership, getting the right level of fitness, and keeping their heads up during  defeats.

We practiced about three times per week and had league games and tournaments on various weekends.

It was a huge commitment but we really fell in love with this group of guys. We got so lucky to get this group. The best word to describe them is nice. They are so nice! And they work so hard.

These are pictures from our last tournament of the season a few weeks ago. This entire season we had been losing in our league games and not doing great in tournaments. This team lost over 20 seniors last year so this was a huge growing year. They had brand new coaches, a lot of guys who had never played before, and we focused this whole year on fundamentals. We came into D-II high school states seeded 5th and they played their hearts out.

We ended up in the championship game and took home second place overall. It was amazing and I still have goosebumps talking about it!

These are our seniors and man are we going to miss them!

And here's our future. Our underclassmen who will be leading the charge next year.

We hosted a great end of year party for them the Sunday after the tournament. We had kan jam and spike ball going, the parents came for a while, and lots of pizza! We gave each of the guys a new disc to get them through the summer and made them promise to throw.

We are looking forward to sticking with this group next year and continuing to see them improve!
